    Question regarding shipping a pistol

So I my be trading a pistol with someone, and I would need to ship it. I know UPS & FedEx require you to send handguns next day air. That is a crap load of money. If I disassemble the handgun, do you think I could get away with shipping it ground or 2day or something cheaper than $60.?

The Frame is still a hand gun. It sucks I know, but why chance getting popped over $60.

Maybe your friendly neighborhood Gun Shop can sent it cheaper.

Yeah, just go through each of your FFL dealers.

My FFL doesn't want to do it.

That's interesting. Maybe try another? The paper work still needs to go through both FFL dealers anyway.

What are you not telling here? First you do not need an FFL to ship.
Second the highest cost to ship a handgun over night is $35.00 or less.
Are you trying to ship a weapon that you should not be shipping?

seller is required to ship his pistol to a FFL holder, but he doesn't need to use a FFL to ship it. Therefore only the receiving FFL needs to do paper work and the seller doesn't have to do anything but to get a copy of the FFL for his records.

              Correct me if i'm wrong.

Even if you are trading the pistol to a friend it needs to go through an FFL for a PPT (Private Party Transfer) in this state. If you are selling the gun out of state you can ship it directly to an FFL who sends you a copy of his/her FFL that is signed in ink. As for shipping, it is pretty expensive. Not really for the shipping portion but having it insured for the value of the weapon.

That is what his and my FFL's are saying.

Where are you getting a $35 price for overnite shipping? Not on UPS or FedEx.

What are you accusing me off? The gun is perfectly legal to ship, the reason I asked my FFL to do it is he can ship USPS Express, which is a lot cheaper than Fed Ex or UPS overnight.
