    627 moonclip question

Just picked up a 627 pro series... any of you guys use moonclips?

Any recommendations on which clips to use and where to get a good price on them?

I don't use moon clips for my 627pc bloodwork. I have a few factory clips. Ranch products should make some at a decent price. They are still more than 45acp clips though.

TK Custom Stainless Steel are, IMO, the best. However, Ranch Products is a close second. You can get them, at Midway in small quantities. If you like them, you can buy in large quantities direct from Ranch for about -- uh -- I think I left my price list at work. I'll check tomorrow if you're interested and no one else jumps in. Eight shooter. right?

If you are going to use moonclips, I strongly recommend the Moonclip tool

I don't have a 627 but I do have a S&W 22-4 and use moonclips. I purchased mine from Dillon and they work, but there is a place that sells 100 moonclips for $25 bucks. Some friends who shoot wheelguns in competition and they swear by them. I sure someone will post up the name of the place shortly.

If you end up wanting to order from ranch product let ke know. I would be interested in splitting an order with you. If I remember correctly they are $50 for 50 clips or $75 for 100 clips.

I may be interested in ordering from Ranch Products --- the ammo I have is Fiocchi 357mag and Speer 38 special. I have heard Ranch moonclips have trouble fitting the Starline brass.

Anyone know if Fiocchi 357mag/Speer 38special uses starline brass? Can anyone chime in on this?

I have a 627 PC and so far have only used Ranch mc. The ranch mc work great for normal range use. They fit some brass tight some loose but for range use it's no problem. I would use the mc from hearthco for compitition use only.

I used the 38/357 7-shot Ranch products moon clips on Federal, Speer, Magtech and Starline brass They will hold the Starline brass but the cartridges jiggle a lot. I'm not sure why that happens but I'd hazard a guess it is width of the groove at the base. My clips are 0.025" thick so I guess I can dig out a feeler gauge an check.

AFAIK, there is no SAMMI spec for the size of the groove on 38/357.
