What ammo did you use in your rock and how did that sucker feed besides the mag problem?

My only real beef with the 1911s we had in the military was the slim grips. I also have pretty large hands & the fat slabs of wood on my Tactical make for a much better feel.

It's a great gun for the money. I'm actually headed down to ASC shortly for a session with it and also spring my new-to-me Dan Wesson wheelgun from 40 days of pistol jail.

I see their slide release as being a common problem. I had to swap mine out for an aftermarket one before it worked flawlessly. Mine wouldn't get hit by the follower so the slide would always return to battery.

I feed the my rock a diet of 300 rounds of PMC Bronze and 300 rounds of WWB. Other than the Mag release she feed without issue. I forgot to add that my round count is now at 1268. The slide stop on mine seams to be great. I only brought 4 magazines with me so a fellow student and now good friend lent me some of his old colt mil-surplus 7 round mags and the rock liked them just fine. I have now added a little bit of grip tape to the front strap to help with proper isometric tension until I get the front strap checkered. You should have sean some of the beautiful custom pistols that Arnel is building at Advanced Tactical! There was a stainless 1911 based on what looked like an STI frame, Citadel Slide, and custom everything else. He had a little bit of a time getting that one out of my hands.

All in all, I love my rock and don't plan on ever getting rid of it.

            Thanks,

            David

I am still breaking in mine, but love it so far. It is my first 1911. I now have 200 rounds through it. I have some Ahernds(sp?) wood grips on mine that I like a lot. I have to get some grip tape to try, though I have not really had a issue with the front strap. What magwell did you install?

Gary, the magwell is from Wilson Combat. I love it, not to big but still funnels in the loaded mags!

Bobula, I enjoyed your write-up greatly! It mirrored my experience and that of many others! Thank you for sharing.

                    Thanks,
