after reading the thds. it seems like those concerns are more of user errors than the actual design. many of them clam the operators who shot themselves are season shooters. however, a season shooters is a vague description which doesn't necessarily mean they are well verse in the draw and holstering with a specific retention system. a season shooters can be anything from a guy who is a mater level bullseye shooter who never need to draw his gun to some guy that plinks for 20 years in the desert. even guys who shoot IPSC might only use a level 1 retention system. Many Firearm Instructors do not allow Serpa's in their class due to Accidental Discharges BTW.

personally, i have never AD my p226 during draw from my Serpa. regardless of holsters, if the shooter draw his gun with his index finger curl, then he is doing it wrong. an AD from a improper draw technique is the error of the user and not the holster IMO.
the only valid concern for a Serpa is that the retention tab is easily accessible by both the operator and he's enemy.Comment

These are instructors and classes of defensive type classes which should be obvious since a competitive shooter does not need retention. It's a bad design having a button where you can potentially pull the trigger while drawing quickly, especially under stress if you need to stop a threat. Just because it hasn't happened to you (yet), does not make it invalid.
Here's an example:

I am guilty. My pics were taken several years back when I just received 3 of them. They have significant use now but other than a few scrapes they look practically brand new still. Also, I primarily carry m 1911 so the Glock 30 and HK P7 hardly get used.Last edited by Mac Attack; 02-09-2011, 10:43 AM.Comment

Another thing is that I take pictures of stuff when they are new, if I take pictures years later they will look obviously worn.My opinions are my own and do not represent the position of other companies I may be involved with.Comment
