    CA Handgun Roster List

Hi, I have a few questions regarding the CA handgun roster list. Does the list apply to single shot pistols such as the ones made by the Thompson/Center. Also, does a handgun have to exactly match the name on the list. Such as a S&W model 10-14 is on the list, but would a S&W model 10-5 be ok?

    Thanks!

To my understanding, the models of the guns do have to match what's on the list.

well, there are a few exemptions to the list.

if its an Olympic pistol, it does not need to be on the list.
if PPT the list does not applies.
if it fit the single shot pistol requirements, then the list does not apply.

So a family transfer does not have to be on the list? My father lives in Virginia and was going to get me a new hand gun. Would it have to be on the list for him to transfer it to me?

If you father in Virginia wants to give you a gift of a handgun, it need not be on the Roster, but the transfer MUST go through a California FFL.

If it goes through a FFL, he will have to be present for the transfer correct? What a pain in the rear...

all PPT must be transfer in person at the FFL. the only exception is for long gun that is 50 years or older from the MFG date and it fits the C&R requirements. a C&R long gun can be cash and carry.

keep this in mind. all handgun transaction in CA must goes through FFL regardless of the status of the gun.

A father in Virginia can ship an off-roster handgun to an FFL in California. He does NOT need to be there in person.
