7.62x25 split cases after being shot

As many may know, the Polish surplus 7.62x25 has issues with cracked cases. I have not seen ANY cracked prior to being fired, however, about 20 percent of the ejected cases are cracked nearly halfway down the case.

    1. Is this dangerous to shoot from a CZ52 or Tokarev pistol?

It seems like this may cause pressure in directions it wasnt meant to go.

it's sort of common with older surplus ammo from the comblock.

    i wouldn't worry about it.

While I cannot comment on the safety of shooting this ammo, I have had no issues of any kind with shooting the Romanian 7.62x25 that J&G was selling last year. Where I had trouble was with the Bulgarian 7.62x25 backed in the little paper bundles tied with string, every case would split.

I've never had a problem with it.

"never had a problem with it" meaning you've never had any split? Or meaning you have had many split but no big deal?

            Thanks guys.

Polish surplus 7.62x25 will almost always have cracked case mouths, it's completely normal. The reason for this is because they don't use a traditional taper or roll crimp to hold the bullet in place. Instead, they used a stab crimp, which is what the indented dots on the case mouths are. Don't worry about it, your gun is fine

I have shot hundreds of rounds of polish through my cz52's. When I first discovered the cracks I was concerned. I called JG, they calmed my nerves and I bought more.

Isn't this phenomenon more commonly referred to as "split cases" instead of "cracked cases"?

Ok... So I'm safe to shoot the 500 rounds I have? And safe to buy more to shoot then?

Not to pound this subject into the ground or anything....but I like my pistol in one piece.....

just make sure they aren't cracked BEFORE shooting them off...

I've shot a few hundred rounds of polish with split necks through my CZ-52. Apart from weird ejection patterns it's caused no issue. From what I found while googling, however, I would not shoot them through a Tokarev. But that's all hearsay and I have no personal experience with it.

Why not through a Tokarev? If they are safe they are safe....right?
