Trigger Happy; SP2022 and P226

I have a Sig SP2022 and I'm completely satisfied with the gun in all aspects.
The P226 has been on my 'must have' list for all the usual reasons; classic, rock solid, reputation, feel, ergos, the list goes on.
I've handled the P226 before but haven't really put any time into the trigger, action, etc.
Today, I stumbled on a small firearms counter tucked in the side of a surplus store and handled the P226, and clicked off a couple of dry-fire pulls. Have to admit, the P226 SA pull feels quite a bit different than the SP2022. I didn't want to dry-fire excessively in front of the owner, but the couple of pulls I did felt quite a bit more clunky than the smooth SA SP2022.
I don't know if this is a deal breaker, and I could always have the trigger worked on. The P226 is still on my list, but now I know what folks are talking about with the SP2022.
I don't know if this 'post' is in the form of a question, or just giving my impressions.

Sig 2022 is excellent all around gun, great value. Turner's had them for $399 before and I'd checked out one @ Ammo ( cerritos ) 2 weeks ago. Enjoy it!

I agree,I shot p229, the 226 has a rougher trigger, it's a little heavier to pull. The owner told me that the trigger hasn't been broken in yet(which I am not sure about it), but he said he will work on it for me

I have both sig p226 and sp2022. both shot great and i can group 1.5inch @7 yards. The p226 had a heavier trigger pull, sometimes when i rapid fire i don't pull the trigger all the way back and the gun doesn't go off. look to see if it's a jam and no it's just me not pulling the trigger hard enough. But it's what gun you get used to most. i shoot with my sp2022 alot more then my p226 and now my brother has tooken it over(I gave him my p226 basically). So i am used to the pull on a sig pro. The sig p226 has been in the family for 24+ years, i recently took everything apart to give it a good cleaning, and it's still like brank new, where the trigger spring goes into the frame, there is no ware. was very suprised but it's a Sig after all.

The P226 can be had with a Short Trigger, which may make a difference to some. This year Sig will be sending out the P226 with the E2 conversion grip, meaning that it will be standard on all P226/229 models. Couple that with a SRT [short reset trigger conversion] and you will have a winner. I sent my personal P229 to Sig for the conversion, and I don't think there is a better set up that I've ever shot in DA/SA including the SP2022.

For the money, SP2022 is hard to beat for a DA/SA. However the P226 is a proven design than can be custom fitted by the factory to make it better.

DA on any classic P series Sig is heavy and sometimes gritty. The SA is decent. The trigger pull on the Sig Pro series are much smoother and nicer that the classic series. But the classic series and pro series shoot and feel differently. If you were/are used to the classic series, you may not like the pro series, and most "loyalists" don't like it. However, if you owned a sig pro before a classic, then you may feel differently. I love the trigger on the pro's but just cannot warm up to the feel and design of the gun compared to the classic line. But the P226 is a must own if you are a true Sig fan.

P226 vs P226 and so on will all have a different "feel" Nothining is like for like.... Thats why god created the smith =)
