Which .40 Caliber Gun to get

I don't have a .40 caliber gun yet, but its on my wish list this year. But I prefer one with a single action trigger. I don't plan on doing any mods like trigger jobs. I already have a .45 for home defense so this will just be a range gun for target shooting. I like something with more kick than a 9mm and I could get a box of 50 rounds for $12 so the price of ammo isn't really an issue.

What I have in mind.

Sig P226(Im reading reports that the nitron finish is wearing off?)
Sig P229
USP 40(Complaints about the trigger?)
CZ-75 40(Doesn't have a good out of the box trigger?)
XDM 40 via single shot(Trigger is close to single action, but trigger pull is as heavy as the Glock)

Get the cheapest one you can find. More in the lines of hipoint. That way there'd be more of the other good guns for the rest of us to horde up.


If its your first i'd suggest cz or eaa. Out of that class i say go for the xd or glocks if you care total reliably and simplicity.

I don't like .40s much, but if you get a SIG P229, you can get a .357 SIG barrel for it later when you come to your senses! Easy conversion. Only thing wrong with the gun is the price tag!

My thoughts extactly. Are sigs and hk's worth nearly or over double the cost of xd's and glocks? Not in my book they are. I'd rather have two of xd or glock than one of those or others with a no real track record.
