    Springfield Mil Spec versus Loaded

So can any one explain if the Loaded is worth the extra few hundred dollars over the Mil Spec?

I read about the differences on the Springfield website, but I'm not sure how to quantify the upgrades of the Loaded over Mil Spec.

The Loaded comes with a fitted beaver tail, lowered ejection port, full length guide rod, forward slide serrations, Novak or Bomar Sights, ambi safety, and a longer trigger. Basically having a new beavertail and the Bomar or Novak Slide cuts alone make the Loaded worth it. Sending your gun out to a gunsmith plus the parts could cost more than the difference.

Its actually subjective, if the upgrades are worth to you or not. I used to have a stainless loaded. It has more features, as stated by our comrade above. However, I found out that I am happier with my Mil-spec.

For one, the pronounced part of the beavertail is digging into my palm when shooting and after several rounds it becomes uncomfortable. The FCS is razor sharp, more sharp than I want. There are more sharp edges on it than my mil-spec. I didn't like the 2 pc guide rod it came with. The extractor was too tight as it came from the factory giving me multiple failure to feed issues---I was able to rectify this myself and the gun became very reliable after that.

So, to me, the price difference, inspite of the fact that the loaded has more features is really not worth it. I just bought it just because, and it didn't take long that I sold it off. I still have the Mil-spec.
