SIG p229 conversion

hello everyone, i have an older german p229 on the way and would like to tinker around with caliber conversion. as it is a 40 s&w, a drop-in 357 barrel (i have another thread looking for such barrel too) would enable me to play with the 357 Sig round a bit. is it possible to go from 40 s&w to a 9mm, realizing that there are folks out there that market/retail these? is it just a drop in and magazine swap (ala Glocks) or is there much more to it or it's a no go? thank you.

Bar-sto sells a drop in barrel that goes from 40 to 9mm..

Yep. I have the barsto 40-9 barrel and it works great. I have some 9mm mags for it as well and I have seen no difference in reliability using 40/357 mags or the 9mm mags. Good conversion That is well worth the $.

I have an EFK .40 to 9mm conversion barrel with compensator porting for my P229. Although I do not reccomend the barrel, it works well. The point of impact is lower than with the original .40 barrel is though.

One note, I do recommend getting a lighter recoil spring for the 9mm conversion. I got a wolf that was two pounds lighter to eliminate short stroking and failure to lock open on last rd.

+1 I have the P229 in .40S&W and use the Barsto 9mm conversion barrel. The set up works very well, but I use it with Mags and a recoil spring from my P228 (lighter).
