Sphinx

This handgun has been around for a while. It's not on the Roster. I was wondering how it shoots & the quality of the product.

As my feeble mind remembers, the Sphinx is a very high quality version of the Tanfoglio. I always wanted one, but they were beyond my pocketbook at the time; high quality, class pistol.

Not sure about the exact pistol in question. But I remember when they were selling these maybe 10 or 20 years ago. I handled a Sphinx in .380. Seemed to be a copy of the PPK with a 13 round high cap mag. The quality seemed top notch. I liked their designs and would buy one now if I could (afford one).

I owned one of their .380s. A very handy pistol with extremely nice workmanship. Too heavy for its size, though.

It does look like Tanfoglios. If it's a higher-end Tanfoglio, it's gotta be really nice. I have a Tanfoglio Witness Elite Match, and it's one of the best-shooting guns I own.

It's their version of the CZ-75, and my buddy Paul had one they gave him -- at the time it was three times the cost of a good Colt 1911 -- shot okay -- its a 9mm CZ -- they offered lots of "bells and whistles" but it's no loss that it's not on the list -- not worth more (for use) than many of the few guns we CAN have.

Tanfoglio stepped into the void with their copies of the CA sold by everyone including TA, TZ, Excam, Springfield Armory, IMI and Sphinx. They became very popular as the first high cap race guns in USPSA competition.

Of all these clones, the Sphinx had the distinction of being final machined and fitted by the Swiss. Of the ones I've seen, their quality and workmanship were excellent. The only down side is that the Swiss were also very proud of them...to the tune of 3-4 times the price of their Italian parents

Yeah. What he said. Very pretty, well made -- but ultimately... I actually got to shoot a group with one for German television... But ridiculously over priced...

I handled on ein the late 90's- from what I remember, it was very well made, quite heavy, and fairly expensive
