    Gun Store Findings

I just visited City Arms and picked up the used S & W 745 they had for sale. It's an older single action type, blued slide and no ambi hammer drop. Sort of an impulse buy. Visited Castro Valley guns to pick up my Coonan & saw they have a stainless 6" Python & a 6" blued Trooper Mk III and a stainless 4" heavy barrel Model 65 - no lock or MIM. City had a 4" blued Python also.

Just thought I'd throw out the info for anyone who's interested.

The 6" @ Castro Valley is $1,150.00 and the 4" at City is $1,450.00.

Speaking of Pythons, I just visited my Mom in NH and she bought her 1st gun for home protection. She bought it from the wife of a recently deceased next door neighbor. She wasn't sure of what it was, the wife wanted $275.00 and Mom talked her down to $250.00. Since she couldn't tell me what the heck it was, she went upstairs and came down with it - a 1970s manufacture blued Python with a 6" barrel.

The thought of these two little old ladies haggling over the sell price kind of funny.

Your mom is lucky that I wasn't bidding on that $250 Python.

FYI the 4" blued Python at City Arms is absolutely beautiful; no real blemishes that I can see, original factory wood grips in near perfect condition.

I'm not a Colt guy so it's not really interesting to me especially at that price; wow - I don't think the person that has it on consignment there is being realistic, but good luck to him anyway.

I have a perfect Burning Man attendance record: zero.

You do know there are more guns in the country than there are in the city.

I noticed the $1,150.00 Model 27 came down to about $900.00 - I don't think it will move until about $600.00 or so. Maybe the same will happen with the Python, but I don't think I'd go any where near the current asking price. What's the curent "good deal/bad deal" point on a Python?

Did it? I hadn't noticed. If it gets to the $600 neighborhood I might get interested. It's a 6"; I already have the 3", the 5" and the 8".. we'll see.
