I have a stainless steel guide rod and 18lb spring on my G19 and G23. I changed it because the polymer guide rod irritated me because it was polymer. Nothing wrong with the polymer it worked fine. Just preferred stainless steel. Here's a link:

Simple answer: don't fix anything that ain't broke. Glock tried that for their Gen 4 pistols and "Glock reliability" is now an oxymoron.
