SIG 1911's..How do they compare?

My bad if this is a duplicate but looking for some unbiased opinions. How do SIG's compare with the likes of SA, Kimber, or any others out there? Would you say they are in the top tier or about average in the world of 1911's?

Also, are there any SIG models that stand out from the rest of the SIG line up? Exactly which ones are CA legal? Interested in a compact version.

The Sig 1911 has gotten a bad wrap do to there early production having problems with the external extractor. I for one have a Sig GSR that I love. I also own a Kimber compact, and SA Loaded. The Sig has the smoothest action of all three, and the trigger is good for stock. It weights a lot more than the SA, but I really like the extra weight. If I had to let one go the Sig would not be the one lost.

Sig 1911s are the best 1911 for their price. Make sure to buy the Revolution series. The early model have a lot of problem. I love the way they look with the rail, square slide. The slide like a normal sig, beefy.

Personally, I would choose a SIG 1911 over a Springer or Kimber. Some don't like the external extractor but I think its a more reliable design. Some don't like the squared off frame but I think it stands apart from other 1911's. I hear they are accurate but I've only handled them and never shot one.

The XO at $700-750 is a great value. The Stainless Steel looks real nice and its got factory night sights. Those run about $900. They have railed versions of both and then there is the the TTT which is basically their top of the line. It's two toned and that one is gorgeous. They run over $1000. These are all on the list.

I don't think any of the compact models are on the list.

CA Compliant

The SIG website itself tells you what guns are California legal. Most models have their own web page. Click the "Specification" tab and look at the bottom of the page. It generally says whether the gun is California legal (CA Compliant).

Have you taken a look at the Colt XSE? They look real promising. The gun store I frequent says they don't stick around on the shelves long and nobody's come back with any complaints/problems

One thing I noticed about the Sig is in regards to holsters. It won't fit a regular 1911 holster. The slide on the Sig is slightly wider.

I own a SIG 1911, ( last year production) I fired it about 1000 with federal ball.

I have a TTT that I wouldnt trade for any production 1911 That I've handled so far.

SA, Kimber, colt, nope.

And fyi, SIG 1911s fit perfectly in Blackhawk cqc holsters but don't bother with robust and some bladetechs. Basically most active retention holsters will work.

My SIG GSR was my first 1911 and I would not part with it. I have since aquired 1911s from S&W, SA, Colt and Kimber and I would say it is on par with other manufacturer's offering around the same price range or slightly higher. I would not hestitate to buy if you are in the market for reasonably priced 1911.

It fits perfectly in both my Fobus and Bladetech holsters and it has accepted all of the parts that I have decided to install in it.

I have two Sig 1911's, TTT and XO. Both have been 100%. Fit and finish is great.

I have a half-dozen 1911s. My Sig 1911 is my #1, trust my life/hit what I aim at/ repel boarders/SHTF/Zombie Apocalypse pistol.
