    HK USP COMPACT HELP

    Hello all,

I currently have a HK USP compact .40 sw. The gun is a variant 1. I need to convert the firearm to a variant 7 (DAO w/ no decock/safety). I have found online a complete kit for approximately $100.00. However, I would like to know if anyone else has experience. I am located in Ventura county. Would prefer an HK armorer local if possible. Suggestions?

    Thanks

This is the LEM conversion, correct?

A lot of guys do it themselves. It doesn't look too difficult. I hear it's a nice conversion too.

Catch labeling is correct. I am suffering massive brain farts. The entire job can be done with needle nose pliers, 1/16 inch punch, 3/32 inch punch, and a dental pick. I found it easier to take out the "sear complete" before taking out the "sear." This is the only unclear part. There...

How about apex tactical? Don't know if they are too far from you though.

mattja instructions are all that you will likely find. I've seen those same instructions on numerous sites. If I may make a suggestion, DO NOT use the hammer spring or the trigger rebound spring included in the "LEM" kit. The double action pull gets a bit stiff for most people's liking. I wouldn't change the spring in the firing pin block (in the slide) either. If you keep those three aforementioned stock Variant 1 springs you should end up with a LEM light trigger kit. If you install the LEM springs you'll end up with the heavy trigger kit. I have tried it both ways on my brother's 40c that we converted from Variant 1 to LEM and my 45f, Variant 1 to LEM. Both ended up with the lighter springs.

If you find the trigger reset too passive with the lighter spring, then you can always swap the trigger rebound spring for the LEM kit one, it'll take you an honest five minutes. Once the kit is installed, the hammer spring can be swapped in under a minute.

Take photos of how the trigger rebound spring is laid in there before disassembly. Also, mark on a piece of paper which parts the kit says to reuse and which ones to discard, do not mix them up. Verify each part with the nomenclature on the instructions, take your time. If you mess it up the first four times then you are on par for most that I know, patience you'll get it. DON'T FORCE ANYTHING (like the hammer axle). If something is resisting, stop and reread the instructions several times. Just some food for thought with the mistakes I made the first go.
