Yes. Need to send it to a FFL to DROS it and 10 day wait.

Only exceptions would if you physically purchased it out of state and then report it to CA DOJ.

CA still requires handguns, even C&R, to go through CA-FFL when transferred in state. (skipping intrafamily and inheritance, of course)

As I guess you already know, if you were to go out of state with your C&R license, then you could buy C&R handguns and bring them back yourself, and just file the state form.

You can skip the 10 day wait if you have a COE

Oh I have COE also.
so then what happens - it goes to FFL in bay area, I walk in and I can cash and carry - but only because it's C&R?

I believe for any c&r handgun you can go home the same day with it if you have your c&r and coe.

You will have to pay the dros fee but it varies on the FFL if you can take it home the same day. Some allow it, some don't even if it's legal. Best to talk to your FFL ahead of time.

And just FYI, C&R handguns are exempt from the safe handgun roster.

The tax you're supposed to pay when you buy something out of state. Instead of the sales tax you would pay for an in-state purchase.
