1911 scope mount for red dot

I'm going to install a Reddot sight (like Tasco ProPoint 3)
    to my Springfield Mil-spec.

There are models of single side and 2 sides and .....in the market.

    Any advice?

    Thanks

I'd mount it as far back as possible. I mounted the both rings forward of the rheostat. I have 2 mounted on springfields using Weinig mounts. I tried the jpoint sight, but it just doesn't point as quickly for me as the tasco/millet. The one sided mount would be nice if you mount a slide racker on the "wrong" side, you won't have to take the racker off everytime you want to remove the slide. One caveat though, when I did mount mine, I had to find a new gun cases

      Good luck,
      Keith

btw, which one sided mount are you planning on using?

        EGW mount

        Thanks to delloro and kmca,

For a better balance, I wouldn't put anything on the slide,
        especially a red dot.

The single side mount I'm thinking of is from EGW.

Anyone here have experience of this mount?

i would not put anything on the slide itself either, it seems like its not stable enough and just ackward.

          this is my setup

i wil take some nice pics later but its in .38 super, shoots great.

i didnt put it together myself and got a good deal on it, otherwise i would probably not use that particular barrel with comp (it is wilson combat though)

the red dot works fine except the push button on i dont like too much.

accurate as hell though. .38 super flys pretty flat for a handgun
