You can call Colt Customer service (Monday - Friday) and they can tell you the date of manufacture. For values, I follow the completed auctions on www.gunbroker.com .

i thought colt did not make SS python until later.

OP are you sure its SS and not nickle plated?

              According to www.proofhouse.com 43XXX should be 1965.

Stainless Pythons did not appear until the late 70's or early 80's. Mid 80's for the shiny "Ultimate Stainless". It could be nickel and not stainless.

Pythons were never made with a 2" barrel. 2.5" was the shortest barrel Colt put on a Python. If it is indeed a 2", then it has been modified.

Ok guys it may be nickel plated and is 21/2 inches. It is shiny so I thought it was stainless, I've only seen blued revolvers. Thanks for pointing this out.
