Bersa Thunder - Nickel or Black?

I've pretty much talked myself into a Bersa Thunder. I know, its not a 9 mm, and some 9s are now about the same size but . . . this gun is calling me. I used to think they were South American junk but they get lots of good reviews.

Can anyone comment on the nickel finish versus the black? I'd be using it for carry, and I'm wondering which is more durable. I kind of prefer the look of the nickel, tho the black is a little more subdued. I don't care for the duo-tone so that's out.

Thanks to any who can offer any input.

I just picked up a matte black Bersa(two days ago). I would say matte black for CC. Although I would think the Nickel would be more durable. Though, I only have my XD for comparison, and the finish is very durable on it.

I have nickel Bersa, but if you are going for CC, I would get black, Good targets are shiny and easy to see. You don't want to be a "good target"

I'd go for black. I don't know how good the nickle plating is on the gun for wear. If you are cleaning the barrel with a strong copper cleaner (I use KG-12) and it gets onto the plating, it will suffer.

If you get the Black & Gold model (we call it the Pimp Pistol in our house), stay away from Gunscrubber, at least the original formula. It trashed the gold on ours.

This is mine. The gold wears off pretty pretty quick, even with good care. It will be black and silver before you know it.

Generally nickle finish is more rust (sweat) resistant than black (assuming blued steel). As you've noticed, nickle finish is shiny, and some feel that's a negative in the carry department.

I got the two tone. Excellent little gun.

Love the Bersa personally, and if taxes are good to me, it is on my 'good ideas' list.

I like the black with nickel accents version.
