Colt Combat Commander Series 70's value

Hello everyone, I have a Colt Combat Commander that I might want to sell. What do you think is the value of this gun? It is in great shape. It hasn't been fire much, about 500 rounds or so. I rate it 90-95% on the overall condition. I have all the original parts except the hammer and thumb safety.

I would say around $6-700 depending on condition and originality of parts.

Kinda hard to value. It is not 100% original so really doesn't have collector value. But sometimes here in CA you get a buyer that just has to have a Colt at any price.

If it has not been "carved on" then it has more value, because the drop in type parts can be replaced.

I recently looked at one and could only get myself to 500 bucks. It had a bomar cut in the slide and that was the showstopper.

I can't tell from the pic, but is the frontstrap stippled? Everything else looks reversible. Barrel looks factory. I presume it is a steel frame as you said combat commander.

I would give up to 700 for one in clean shape with 100% reversible mods, as I would use it as a base for a custom build. At that point I'd buy one with a worn finish that wasn't so highly valued.

If I were looking at this one in a shop, I'd figure about 600 if I liked the frontstrap mods and the idiot scratch wasn't too deep. Someone else might go higher.

Thanks lilxboi for correcting my picture image. Everything in this Commander is reversible. I'm really at the border line of selling this Commander for a Kimber Custom 9mm or .38super. I can't find a strong enough reason to why people like this gun so much. Four of my friends really wants me to sell it to either one. This gun to me is just a pretty/fancy piece of metal. Thanks again for the price suggestions.

99-100% NIB with all the accoutrements would be about $1000

95% or better, probably $700-$850

As pictured, with obvious wear, or aftermarket work that isn't reversable like stipling, probably $600-$650

However, some people may be willing to pay from $700-1000 depending on the condition. BTW, I think you mean pre-Series 80. These are very desirable and usually hard to find in California. You might regret selling it.

I'm sorta in the same boat. I keep thinking about selling my Series 80 Gold Cup because it looks too nice for me to want to shoot the crap out of and yet I don't really want a safe queen. Sort of thinking about selling it to get another 1911 and a few extra bucks but then I figure I'll just shoot it a little and save up for another 1911 that I don't mind making a work horse.

I just sold one to a good friend for 500. He is as I said a good friend. I would have asked 700 from anyone else.

A very nice, non-modified Series 70 Gov't Model sold for $750 last year. The inside was dirty, but the bluing, wood grips, metal were 95%+. Once cleaned up, though, she's a beaut. Tight slide-to-frame fit, and that trigger is sweet. Personally, unless you need the money or simply just don't care for the gun, I'd keep it over a Kimber. That particular S70 feeds more reliably, shoots more accurately, is crisper, and just looks and feels better than a Kimber TLE that FTF's and FTE's from time to time. Both are .45, however.

Nah, this one's just a very nicely-conditioned shooter. No box or anything, Xeno, but the checkering on the wood grips is still nice and sharp. Slight bluing fades are about it. Brought in an unfired-in-the-box S70 NMGC under the "named C&R" rule earlier but just couldn't bring myself to shoot that one. Luckily found this to shoot with instead. Trigger's much better than a S80 Gov't Model.

SJGE used to have some nice 1911's before but didn't see them anymore in the last year or so before the big FFL deal. BTW, have you found a place to open up shop yet?
