How can you tell if the frame is aluminum or steel? I know there is a weight difference but would it be noticeable? The gun is a Kimber Compact Stainless II.

Kimber 1911 frame?
Tags: None -
Ah apparently on their website it states it is aluminum. -
I was unsure at first because i've never felt a lightweight 1911 frame before. It is very nice though.Comment

mine has an exteral extractor. I've heard horror stories about these, Took it to the range and fired 100 rounds with 1 failure to extract. Would you recommend sending it back to kimber for a new slide with the internal extractor?Comment
