    MSRP?

I have a questionn that has been bugging for a little while here. I was recently talking to a shop employee about a couple different guns thhatt they didnt have in stock and could order. Anyways he was quoting me MSRP for everything and I was just wondering whether this is normal to pay MSRP for a gun or is it usually lower or high?

Most of the time shops charge less than MSRP. Many would say you got ripped off if you paid $599 for a Glock, but that's MSRP.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

My experience is less than MSRP. But not always. The laws of economics play a part, supply and demand. If it's a popular model especially in CA, I've seen MSRP+. The Benelli M4 and SA M1A come to mind.
Or go to Canyon Sports for that matter.

I agree with all above. Some of these shops are working on slim margins.
All are in bidness to profit. We have a shop here (SO FLA) who probably have the highest prices in the state, but, if you ask if he can work with you, he almost always will...even on used products....gotta ax.

To get an idea of what is reasonable to pay I check the davidsons gun genie thing. Some shops, like Magnum Range in SB (where they suck anyhow) charge over MSRP. Most are less though.

            Like here's one

            Search for a Glock 19, MSRP $599
            Magnum Range- 628.57 gun + 44.95 fees +56.57 tax=$730.09
            K&D Gunsmith (who is awesome) -539.10 gun + 59.95 fees + 48.52 tax=$647.57
Security and Law Enforcement (never been to)- 550.00 gun +49.95 fees +49.50 tax =$649.45

Depends, if it is something that was just released that week or is hard to get expect to pay MSRP or a bit higher, other than that 10-20% under MSRP is pretty normal.

I had seen that turners had the henry lever action on sale for $250 a month or so back. I got to fire the version with the octagon barrel at my local range then asked them what the price owuld be to get one and they said 350 msrp....

pays to shop around.... depending on area too. I tend to see higher prices in the Bay Area, and lower in the rest of the state.

The shop that I buy from charges MSRP. They have a great selection. I could go there and fondle pistols, then buy online, but that's not cool. There are others in town but they don't have nearly the selection. The othere store that does have a good selection charges MSRP+...

I like the guys at the shop I buy from, and have never had a bad experience with them. My wife goes there during her lunch hr. (her job is nearby) for shotgun stuff, asks a lot of questions, and she is always treated well. I don't mind paying extra for customer service.

As a matter of fact, today at 2PM my new M&P 9 gets to come home with me. I probably paid more than I should have, but I can live with that.
