CZ SP-01 barrel discoloration

Shot my CZ few weeks ago and decided to clean her tonite before another range trip tomorrow.

I dont know how to describe this, but my barrel (chamber side, not muzzle) has bunch of tiny brown/black stains on the outside. Kinda resembling freckles.

I was totally NOT expecting to see this on my new gun.

Will take pics after my range trip tomorrow.
Could've sworn someone mentioning this before on the forums before i bought my SP-01.

CZ barrels are all carburized. It's a process similar to case hardening.

That's just left over gunk from the process. CZ doesn't clean it up and it looks like hell, but it's not rust. When I got my P-01 I had the same reaction. I though I had just purchased a pile of rust.

CZ makes awesome guns that run like clocks, but they don't go out of their way to complete the finish.

I polished the barrel on my SP-01. I didn't like the carburized finish.

Yeah I have those brown freckles on my barrel as well. It doesn't affect performance or accuracy, and I'm certain it isn't corrosion. The CZ guns have a very crude internal finish, but these things are literally built like tanks.

CZ's are a great example of the communist legacy of rugged simplicity, economies of scale and the simple fact that comrades in the field are neither equipped nor inclined to care about state owned property.

Everything from the behind the iron curtain was/is built with that approach and I have seen it in their airplanes, cars, tools, and of course weapons.

These "attributes" of my CZ pistols don't bother me because they shoot so good....

My P-01 barrel came like that as well. I've seen other examples of the same. I guess that its normal for a CZ....

As others have said, its normal, just a side effect of the hardening process CZ uses.
