    No 2007 HK USP .45?

Hey all...I purchased a USP .45F from Turners about 2 weeks ago. I just learned of the date stamp (coded by letters) on the HKs. Mine reads AG, which means it was manufactured in 2006. I went to turners to ask them why a brand new USP that was delivered from their warehouse would be a 2006 model. The guy claimed that it due to HK not wishing to put a magazine disconnect feature, and that the newest model that I could find would be a 2006. It doesn't sound right, because if they were already on the list, they would just have to pay a fee to keep it on the list without the magazine disconnect feature. Any imput? I feel bad, because it's July of 2007, and I would rather have the newer model. It would probably have a better resale value also.

The gun store employees don't know what they're talking about. Unless there is a design difference between the 2006 and 2007 models, there wouldn't be a need to re-list or to add a magazine disconnect.

It's more likely a build on a large run of frames that HK did in 2006... maybe?

ETA: unless there was a design difference between 2006 and 2007, there is no such thing as a "new model"

An HK is an HK. The USP has not had any major revisions in a long time. The P2000 is the latest HK pistol.

Especially, ones that work at Turners.

So aside from the salesman offering false information, I shouldn't care that it is a 2006 model? For example, car models sometimes stay identical from year to year...But wouldn't you rather have the newer one? They have a better resale value for one.

My guess is that they made a lot in 2006 for inventory so they could dedicate assembly line space for the new P30/hk45 product.

Hk will make more USP's when they run low and/or if there is a continued demand for them. Hell, the next thing you know they will be announcing another 'last' or special run of commemorative p7m8's or something.

Model for a gun denotes some revision. Model for a car is different than a model of a gun.

To use your example, however, imagine it like this:

There are two guns. Both have the exact same warranty, are from the same manufacturer, are the same dimensions, finish, weight, fit, feel, attributes, capacity, have the same use (factory testing only), in fact, they are identicle in all aspect but one: one was made in 2006, and one was made in 2007. That would be a closer example of what you're dealing with here.

Both guns are the same "model."

Since you received a newly manufactured handgun suggests to me that HK probably made a metric sh*t-ton of frames in 2006 so they could devote more time to manufacturing their new, different model toys this year (HK45, UMP, etc. etc..). So, my anwer is that you have a new handgun, they probably don't make any with date-stamp 2007 yet, and it has no affect on your resale value whatsoever.

Go shoot it and have fun.

It doesn't matter when it was made... A firearm made in 1976 is still 'new' if it had never been sold by a dealer.

Getting a current model built a year or more ago is typical in the gun world. Nothing to worry about. It didn't go bad or lose any accuracy or reliability while sitting on a warehouse shelf.
