    Para Ordnance LTC Performance

I picked up a couple of 1911 Para LTC pistols a little while back. One of them I have put about 800 rounds through her. All types of ammo. Different factory +Ps, Defensive ammo, WWB,PMC,Rem ect. and Reloads. It has never had a FTE or FTF or any type of stoppages. I wanted to see if it would feed any type of HP ammo and it has. Every thing I tried worked. The only thing I did was at about round 700 I put a Wolf spring in it. I have been very happy with this 1911s performance. Most of the 1911s I have owned in the past which has been quite a few. I have experienced FTF or FTE during their break in period and at times after. They were also picky with the ammo you used. Many worked fine with RN but did not like certain JHP. I know its only 800 rnds but I am going to keep on shooting and I will let you know when I have the first malfunction. For the price this pistol is hard to beat. I just wish their finish was more durable.
    I will keep you updated.

FWIW, the LTC has been Para's best pistol so far. Almost no negative feedback and the reason why Para came out with a 9mm version. Its the only Para I would own; I currently have a 70 series Colt commander and an Ed Brown Kobra Carry. If I can find a deal on an LTC, that will be my next purchase. Congrat's on your 1911 choices.

      +1

I own a Para Stainless LTC (alas, no longer available in stainless), and except for one stovepipe during the first magazine out-of-the-box it has been flawless. I love the thing... and it looks pretty dang spiffy, too! It also happens to be my wife's favorite (centerfire) handgun in the safe, which is another big plus in its favor.

Disclaimer: Mine doesn't get shot a lot, and I too have only about 1500 rounds or so through it, and only about 20 JHPs (if that many). Nevertheless, it has been 100% reliable save for that one round in the first magazine, which always makes for a fun range session (no surprises = a good thing). Pretty accurate, too. Definitely a winner.

You don't here the Para brand name mentioned alot when discussing 1911s. It is usually a back and forth about Kimber or Springfield Armory, with a few people suggesting those people should have saved their money and bought a Rock Island, and a few others saying they should have spent more and got a Les Bauer, Wilson Combat, Nighthawk, Ed Brown, etc. Of course Colt comes up, but you rarely here someone suggest a Para. I always wondered why?

I also owned a Para Ordance P-12.45 a while back and it too was extremely reliable.

Para has had some QC and CS issues over the past couple of years. Hopefully, with their move last year, they've ironed out some of their problems.

Before any Para lovers get out the flamethrowers, I own three Para pistols, two pre-Power Extractor and one that had the PE until I got rid of it. Now all three work correctly.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!
