CZ is good pistol, but if u are looking for lighter/smaller CCW pistol.I would go with Polymer frame/Sub CompactUSMC 95-99 -
I own a P01, which is the same pistol but with a light rail. It is an EXCELLENT pistol. It has been 100% reliable. The feel and controls are very ergonomic. It feels very solid and stable in your hand. The trigger pull is a little rough at first but after a few hundred rounds it breaks in and it gets very smooth and predictable. Plenty accurate for CCW. Very competitive price for an all-metal gun too.
All of the high-end holster makers will be able to make you a CCW holster for it (Crossbreed, Comp-Tac, Raven, etc).
It's about the same size as a Glock 19 if that gives you a frame of reference.Comment

Only in the sense that I "almost" bought one after they were first introduced... and then "almost" again several years later after that. Just never quite made that final leap, but the PCR is still dear to my heart.
At the time of the PCR's introduction, they were quite the rage. It was the new replacement pistol for the Czech National Police, which is how it earned its PCR designation (Policie Ceske Republiky), and the first new pistol CZ had introduced in awhile. The hoopla was short-lived, however, because it wasn't long after that when CZ released the P-01 on the market, the only full NATO-spec pistol available to civilians (as it was marketed). The ensuing popularity of the P-01 kind of put the PCR off the map, unfortunately, and for awhile I thought it had actually been discontinued (when I discovered it wasn't is when I "almost" bought it the second time).
I'm probably in the minority, but I would opt for the PCR over the P-01. I was looking at the PCR as a possible CCW gun at the time, much like you are now, and the snag-free sights combined with the lack of a rail gives the edge to the PCR for me. Besides, it just plain looks better than the P-01!
The one thing in favor of the P-01 is probably availability of accessories; i.e. the selection of holsters molded specifically for the PCR might be limited. In any event, they are essentially the same pistol and either would be a nice choice (on paper that is, based on user & magazine reviews I've seen over the years, though I've never fired either one personally).
I do own and have fired a full-size .40SW 75B, however, so let me give you this piece of advice. There's not a lot of surface area on the slide behind the ejection port, due to the inside rail design; meaning there's not a lot to grasp onto for malf clearances under pressure. Before you fork out your hard-earned money on a CZ you intend to use/carry for SD, make sure you can perform malf clearances cleanly. Ultimately, I think this is probably the reason why I never made that final leap to purchase a PCR for myself; that and the fact that it's 9mm and I wanted .40SW for SD.
Let me know if you purchase a PCR... I can live vicariously through you!John

Love mine
My PCR is probably my favorite pistol. I carried it extensively while in free states. I find it's actually quite comfortable in a good holster. The stock grips area amazing for long shooting sessions because they grip your hands really well. But I replaced them with smooth ones for carry, so the gun doesn't grip my shirt as much.
It shoots like a dream too, although the trigger was a little gritty out of the box. I've got several thousand rounds through mine and it's smooth as butter now. The single action pull is smooth, probably around 3-4 pounds. I remember thinking the double action was rough too, but that smoothed out as well.
Compared to the P01 it's a little less blocky, which I find better for concealment. Although it certainly isn't all that light with a full magazine. It's just around 2.2 pounds. I put it on a scale once to compare to a G19. Fully loaded, they are about the same weight.Last edited by ForceofNations; 01-10-2011, 11:52 AM.Comment

Thanks for the advice. I should have been more specific, I want something smaller/lighter than my current Colt Commander, not necessarily the smallest/lightest available.

Perfect. Thank you for the info.Compared to the P01 it's a little less blocky, which I find better for concealment. Although it certainly isn't all that light with a full magazine. I figured they would shoot well, as most CZs do, but good to know about the size/weight.

I'd a P01 compact version, very solid built, a bit on the heavy side for a 9mm. PCR & P01 diff. is just a decocker feature which I really don't care for, also it has a rail. Excellent overall.

One problem. Your pic is a cz compact in 40 s&w. The 9mm version doesn't have a rail. MarkComment
