    Glock magazines

I am wondering what kinds of magazines people are getting with Glocks purchased new, particularly recent purchases. I recently bought a G19 (manufactured/test fired November 2010) that came with what I believe are 9th generation magazines, Type 4. I think it is the type designed with Gen 4 Glocks with ambi-safeties.

The photo below is not of my magazines but the one on the left is the type that came with my G19. I believe it's ambi-ready. Sorry but I recently started learning about the many versions of Glock magazines and want to know what people are getting with their new Glocks. I am assuming that if I get a Gen 4 Glock the magazines that came with my G19 will work but the extras I got that look like the magazine on the right in the photo will not.

BTW, shot mine for the second time tonight and I have to admit I'm falling in love with it. The Ghost 3.5# trigger is really, really nice. I shoot it very well and when I shot my USP Compact .40 after, I kind of missed my Glock. My friend thought the same thing. I think I'm in trouble. I'm even entertaining thoughts of rotating the USP Compact .40 out of carry rotation and replacing it with the G19 and maybe getting another G19 for a dedicated HD gun.

It would make sense that people are getting gen 4 magazines with their new gen 3 guns. GLOCK only has to make one style of magazine, it cuts down on costs and makes things simpler.

Makes sense indeed, but with some people getting brand new Austrian proofed Gen 3 Glocks and some getting Smyrna proofed examples, and with probably tens of thousands of various magazine types in Glock warehouses I wouldn't be surprised if it's a bit of a mixed bag as far as what you get now.
