    Sig Sights.....WTF?

Brand new Sig Blackwater Tactical....sweet high vis sights with tritium rear from the factory......

Shot the gun for the first time this weekend and they were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off. Like aim for the head and hit the left hip at 25 to 30 ft off. It wasn't just me either I let a couple other buddies shoot with the same result.

I'm guessing it time to call Sig and complain. I can't wait to see how long his is going to take to resolve itself.

Sig will make it right. I had to send something in for warranty 2 weeks ago and they had awesome customer service. Every manufacturer gets a lemon every now and then.

Did you shoot it with several brands of ammo? I get crappy grouping with WWB ammo.

I'm not a big fan of the "dot the i" sights...whatever the technical term for that is.

That is a long way off at 8-10 yards...did you get a chance to shoot it off a bench/rest?

How is it grouping at that distance?

If it is shooting that low off a bench, but grouping fairly tightly (1-2"), it might be either the sight heights or barrel fitting

You'll have much better luck if you call them. Try first thing in the morning...remember that they are 3 hours ahead of us

Yes, you will need to call them and talk to a CSR. They should get your e-mail and send you a shipping label with the RMA number on it. Keep a copy of the label for yourself for your records. Turn around time is usually 7-10 days. If they are backed up from the holidays it may take a couple days longer.

The sight has to be really mess up to get as 2~3ft (head to hip) drop in 25~30ft.

Sounds like mismatched sights. The front is probably too tall. If that's the case, it's an easy fix for Sig. Just call them, as said. I'd be very surprised if they didn't make it right post haste.

Oh, and I absolutely love the Von Stavenhagen sights (thanks, Tang!). I generally despise anything not black-on-black (and serrated), like typical OEM three-dot sights, but the Sig "dot-the-i" sights are pure genius. Just as a 6 o'clock hold is a more accurate hold, "dotting the i" is a very exact sight picture. And it's not only that. The rear sight is scalloped in a way that naturally points your eye to the top inner corners of the rear notch, making it easier to line up w/ the top edge of your front sight. Sounds like a lot going on, but it all goes together so naturally it's really not. Love 'em.

I have a Sp2022 that does the exact same thing. i called sig today and they said that due to the fact that my gun has already been into the shop to replace the extractor (i have a turners bad batch) they couldnt help me unless i paid to have it shipped and looked at. In related news, i bought a glock today, and i am putting the sig up for sale tomorrow. also, ryan in cs was a real a**)

I recently had the same problem with a P220, I couldn't hit s*@t with it but could pick up any glock, 1911, revolver, etc... and would be fine. I tried 5 different loads (2 factory, 1 match, and 2 defensive) with 5 different shooters, all much better than I, same results. Put it on a rest groups varied from 1.5-3" at 7 yards but everything was 2-2 1/2" left and 2 1/2-3" low. I called Sig and they said the would send me a new rear sight to try. I waited, waited, and waited some more. It finaly showed up about a week ago (backorder would have been nice to know about) and have yet to install it. I'm hoping it cures the problem as I really don't want to ship a pistol I already have in my posession. Maybe you'll have the same luck I'm hoping for, minus the 3-4 month backorder.

can you read the numbers on you front / rear sights? that might come in handy when you get them on the phone

Sig will make it right. I personally like the dot-the-i. Replaced the rear night sight with the standard rear on my 229.
