    Help with wear

Is there any ways to prevent or stop wear from the slide on the barrel? I have a Beretta 92FS with about 1000 rounds through it. I am starting to notice a little wear.

    Any help?

Haha, you can get a straw....and suck it up. Just kidding, but it's a firearm and wear happens. I think it adds character.
Fallujah had become a magnet for foreign jihadists and there were several thousand in the city who had come to make martyrs of themselves, to die while killing as many Americans as possibleAt each house I said a prayer, 'Please God get me out of this one.' When I come out of the house, I thank Him, light up a cigarette and move on to the next onesigpic

Wear by design - You can keep on refinishing it -

        you could not shoot it
That punk pulled a Glock 7 on me. You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. Dosen't show up on your airport X-ray machines, here, and it cost more than you make in a month.

Other than not shooting it, not much you can do about the wear marks. Do make sure you lubricate the metal on metal contacts.

Can't expect something that goes boom like that to not receive any wear and tear...

Wear is inevitable. If you shoot it, it will wear. If you don't want it to wear, just put it inside your safe and just admire it from a distance.

Your barrel will eventually look like this:

Let me guess, is this your first gun? Get over it.

Wear happens, just oil it up a bit to cut down on friction, and don't worry about it. The barrel is basically a disposable part anway. Just put 1 dollar in a bucket every time you shoot a box of 100 9mm through the gun. By the time you have worn the barrel too much to shoot nice, you can buy 2 new guns with your bucket-o-bucks.

holy crap. Unless he's been shooting that thing full of sand, that thing has had a helluva lot of rounds through it. Was he using it for action pistol or something?

No wear is the equivalent of chicken strips, if you ride a motorcycle.

Once that wear in the locking areas slows to a minimum your pistol is considered broken in.

LOL. I have wear on my glock on the inside of the slide, actual dings with some chipping. I have talked with numerous gun shops/ smiths and read articles about it and even this seems to be common. I think they called it pinging or pining but it remains stable with no more wear after thousands of rounds. These things will last forever. I just read an article in Handgun magazine (I think). The guy bought his G17 in 1986 or 89? or something like that and has 277,000 rounds through it, replaced the trigger pin once and the sights twice (from holster wear and the night sight stopped glowing after 20 years. Just keep shooting the darn thing, clean it, and replace if it breaks. I don't worry about my glock one bit. Never jams, fires every time I pull the trigger, no problems with +p+ ammo, and it is old enough that I have the high cap mags it came with. Happy shooting.
