Now, just why do you suppose you're getting such a good deal on the Glock 39? Could it possibly be because of ammo availability or should I say non-availability? Perhaps the .45 GAP round is already considered obsolete by many? Think about it!!

Great gun in not so great a round. .45 GAP isn't a bad round, really, it's similar to .45 ACP but with a shorter shell. Finding ammo (much less cheap ammo) will be your problem, and that $280 will look quite expensive down the road. Either that, or you'll have a safe queen for which you can never find the ammo.DiaHero Foundation - helping people manage diabetes. Sending diabetes supplies to Ukraine now, any help is appreciated.

While i love all of the guns in the glock line, the one reason why i ended up getting a G21 was because that specific thing everyone talked here about, the ammo. If 45 GAP was as popular , then i'd jump on this as $280 is a deal, but obviously you'll be on a mission to find any ammo which to me, just drains me and my time! Hell, it's been a challenge enough for me to find 10mm rounds for my G20, but that's a different story!Be the change that you wish to see in the world.Mahatma Gandhi

for that price i would ask what is wrong with it that is almost 1/2 off sometimes a deal that is too good to be true is just that, too good to be true-John McClaneThat punk pulled a Glock 7 on me. You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. Dosen't show up on your airport X-ray machines, here, and it cost more than you make in a month.Comment

Looks like Ammunitiontogo.com has a sale on Speed Lawman .45 GAP for $24.95 per box. That's as cheap as I've seen it (older people might have seen it cheaper, mind you
), and these days you can get brass-cased factory (I bought AE) .45 for $15/box or so.
So the ammo is out there, but not cheap (mind you, 10mm isn't cheap, either).DiaHero Foundation - helping people manage diabetes. Sending diabetes supplies to Ukraine now, any help is appreciated.

New Glocks in .45 GAP have been sold by the local dealers (including Turner's) for $399 or so, or for even less than that online. I considered getting it because of the price, but chose against it (I already have enough exotic calibers to look for ammo for), ammo being the main reason. I got Glocks in 9mm, .40, 10mm, and .357 SIG (did I mention exotic calibers?), and went with a 1911 for .45 ACP. 10mm at least has the benefit of being a great outdoors round for SoCal, while .45 GAP has a more popular rival - .45 ACP.
With all that said, if the OP has other guns in more popular calibers, and there's nothing wrong with the gun, for $280 I'd go for it. If it's going to be a primary gun, I'd pass. You can get a used Glock in 9mm or .40 for $400-450 these days (just saw a G19 go for $300 in Ventura, was 2 min late on that deal), in .45 ACP for $450-500 or so.DiaHero Foundation - helping people manage diabetes. All of your ammunition needs in one place. Our ammo includes military surplus, Hornady, Winchester as well as many other brands. We offer bulk and cheap priced ammo for your ammunition needs at Ammo To Go.
Great price on the gun. If you reload then I'd go for it. Isn't the ammo ban going to kick in this year.. so ordering online is an issue right?Last edited by Ranger20; 01-02-2011, 11:36 PM.Join Date: Oct 2008
