    Replacement Sights for RIA 1911

I have a new Rock Island Armory 1911 (basic Government model) and I really like.

The only problem I'm having is picking up the sights when shooting indoors because the sights are a little hard to pick up for my eyes.

    Three questions:

1.) Does anyone have any sights that they installed on the RIA that they really like? I didn't want to order some off Midway and have them not fit the dovetail in the slide.

2.) Is this something I can do myself?

3.) If not, can anyone recommend a good gunsmith in IE or Orange County that could do the work quickly and relatively inexpensively?

    Thanks,
    Chris

I would just take your slide off and send it Dawson Precision. They can install oneof their RIA sights on it.

I replaced the sights on my RIA GI. I used King's Gun Works - Tappan Sights. I did it myself. I used their front sight stake tool. I also used a brass drift to drive out and install the rear sight.

p.s. The front sight is narrow tenon.
