    S&w 29-3 6"

Back in about early 1990 I bought a Smith 29-3 from a friend of mine. To this date it has been sitting in my safe NIB never fired. We never transferred it into my name. My friend passed about 5 years ago. How,if I ever sell it,can I do it leaglly in California? It is a Calif. gun.

Bring it to NorCal, and let's do a PPT (private party transfer). I'll be very glad to take that off your hands for a fair price !

There were not any transfer laws between individuals back in 1990, the PPT law is not retroactive so you should be good to go. Of course this advise is worth what you paid for it so double check.

Trashman- you talking trash again ? Thanks for your kind offer.

Kurac-Thanks for your input. I should speak to a FFL holder to make sure.

Are you kidding? I'm not TALKING trash. I'm COLLECTING trash. You know the kind I'm talking about -- all those older S&W's....all eyesores. Help me in my continued public service as I place as many in my gun safe as I can...

So when are you gonna sell it?

As stated no formal DROSing on PPT in 1990, records not required except for the official handshake.

Now a DROS will be required by a FFL dealer if you sell it PPT (Private Party Transfer)

Don't have a date as of yet. Trying to make up my mind if I'll sell or trade. I know it is worth crazy money in California. That part is kind of sad,but we live in a sad time. Right now it is nice and warm in my safe. Thanks to all for your thoughts and advice. How about that Trashman- wants me to take it up to him-7 hours drive
