Glock with austrian proof marks. What does this mean

    Hello Fellow Cal Gunners.

I have spoke with many people about the topic and can't get a concrete answer. The glock that i have, was bought during the 2008-2009 gun craze, It does have the austrian proof marks on slide and barrel. The bottom of the trigger guard says "smyrna, GA". Below the right thumb rest displays. " made in austria." "Glock Ges.m.b.h". To throw me off even more is, the two spent shell are marked "smyrna. GA. The slide has all of the austrian proof marks necessary.

I have know idea about what to think about the origin of this gun.. If any one can share some knowledge on the situation I would be very grateful.

Made in Austria, hence the proof.

Imported by glock usa, hence the Smyrna, GA mark.

Not a Glock expert by any means, and I'd welcome a correction if applicable.

True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.

Life's journey is not to arrive safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy schit...what a ride"!!

If it's a G26 it was made in Austria, proofed (test fired) there, then shipped to Georgia with adjustable rear sights and another attachment to be in line with US gun import restrictions. At Glock USA, the G26 has the adjustable sights removed and then test fired to comply with several states who will request empty cases for that particular gun for crime tracking purposes.

EDIT: after I peeked at my own G26 - SN on frame, slide and barrel and barrel has polybore rifling and mark. Gun is marked on frame "Made in Austria".

It could of been imported dissassembled then re-assembled at Smyrna hence the Smyrna Test Firing.

Sig used to do this from what I have heard.
