    FN 5.7 anyone?

Hi, growing interest on the 5.7 here. Any owners that want to share their opinion and likes/dislikes?
How is the cost of ammo as well as availability for that particular caliber? Is the ammo hard to find?
    Thanks in advance.

Lots of five seven threads. A quick search will turn up all your answers.

I was shooting a Glock when shooting a Glock wasn't cool.

I like the gun. It is a lot of fun and really accurate round. It feels like shooting a 22mag. The ammo is not hard to find. You can find it online for cheap if you buy in bulk.

Excellent gun, largest detractors are the mag limitations in CA, ammo availability, and safety position.

I bought one in November and shot it a couple times. No recoil, felt like a toy or BB gun. I didn't really like it. I sold it and didn't lose any money, so I'm happy it's gone.

Since then I bought a Glock 22, which I really like. I never had a Glock before, but this one's a keeper.

Is there any real world data on the fight stopping ability of this round and handgun?

I like the safety position on mine..

The mag restriction in CA kills it's real value which is 20 rnds of firepower in a very lightweight package.

Very easy to shoot with almost no kick. This makes double tripple taps fairly easy.

It's an odd little gun, but fun to shoot and reliable.

                  I love my 5.7

(this is a copy and paste from an earlier thread)

But understand the weapon is limited in Calipornia because of Magazine limits.

My daughter (13) loves to shoot it. There is NO RECOIL at all. Some factors
                  to consider:

                  1. It weighs under a pound; almost like a Mattel Toy. Uncanny how light this gun is.

                  2. The normal ammo around California is SS 197 blue tip. About $20 buck a box. Slightly more powerful than .22 magnum. Certainly more able to penetrate objects.

                  3. Real zippy more efficient ammo can by had; the downside is it's expensive but having one box would cover any situations you might encounter:

                  4. In reality this weapon falls into the novelty/collector realm. It's not the first gun I would grab in a Home Defense situation; neither would you. We have .45 autos or Glocks for that sort of thing.

                  5. At around $1000 (plus or minus) and $20 a box (still less than .45) for ammo this weapon is not for the Budget Minded.......it's for FUN. If you buy the gun for FUN you will get your money's worth.

                  6. The NORMAL mags are 20 rounders. And the weapon comes with 3 of them. 10 rounders can be had; 30 rounders as well. One advantage to this weapon is it's LIGHT WEIGHT. So this might be a great weapon for an extended back-packing trip.

                  7. The Ammo situation is something to consider. I buy it when I can; gun shows have it available. In the stores it can be close to $25 or $30. Online is the way to go for now. After Feb One expect ammo to skyrocket. The Anti-gun crowd could care less about honest lawful gun-owners.

I have no plans to sell my Five-Seven. Maybe someday I will get a PS 90 as well.

I forgot to mention, I prefer the safety where it is on the 5.7. I take mine hunting and carry it as my side arm for the coyote, etc.

It's 'pros' are those noted in previous posts. The 'cons' for me were that the sights were not to my liking, it is probably to large for EDC, and therefore, not worth the price.

I would recommend getting one in your hands. No matter what pros or cons it has, I didn't like how it felt in my hands, so it's not a weapon I'd considering buying.

I have one, love it. I wish they made a compact version that could be used for concealed carry. I doubt that would happen as its a straight blowback design and I think to make it smaller with that round they would have to employ some sort of locking system.

Its not my choice for home defense unless they're wearing body armor, but its a fun gun to have. Its super light, but kind of big and bulky for a pistol so its not good for CCW. The bullets fly in a flatter trajectory and at much higher velocities than bigger pistol bullets. There is less recoil so follow up shots are nice and tight. If you have to bug out and have to carry all your stuff, you can carry a truck load of ammo in your pockets. I can fit almost 500 rounds in my front and rear pockets (Levi's) comfortabley, try that with 9,40, or 45 and hike a mile. Ammo can be had almost at any major gun shop for about $20 for 50 for the blue tips. As far as stopping power, it is not like an ice pick, the bullets are designed to tumble/fragment and unload its energy when it hits flesh. Like all calibers shot placement is key. Its definately more of an exotic gun, get it if you already have other guns, but not if its going to be your only gun.

It is fun to shoot.. a great bug out combo would be this and P90.. three mags each and you would have 210 rnds ready to go. And the weight would be minimal.

Certainly not the only gun to have, but it has its uses.
