So I picked up a dedicated backpacking gun

I asked months ago about opinions getting a .45acp 1911 for backpacking defense, specifically worst case situation against mountain lions and black bears. Consensus was I'm an idiot and need to stop playing patty-cake and get a real man's chambering, something like .357 magnum or better. Problem is some of the backpacking trails I hit are technically official roads so when I am on those I need to UOC (I don't always have to UOC while backpacking, but sometimes I do), which makes a magnum revolver not optimal to load in a pinch....

Long story short, I went with another Glock! Glock 29 10MM baby! Went with this choice cause I can go from UOC to chambered quickly, its small and relatively light weight (obviously good for backpacking), and the rail allows for a TLR-3 light in case I ever had to defend myself after dark. Picked her up today and went to the range - holy crap! I've been shooting too many damn 9mm's! Turns out a sub-compact polymer framed pistol shooting 200gr bullets at about the speed of sound sure packs a punch

All I can really say is I'm pretty sure this thing will do the job, even though I don't think I can shoot more than a few mags at a time. Thanks for the previous advice guys.

Pictured below is my Glock 17C top left, 29 top right, and my 26 on the bottom.

    Solid choice.

Gratz on your little hand canon.

        Good Choice..!..

I love the GLOCK 29 and 10MM. For me, the GLOCK 20 and 29 have less felt recoil than a .357 Magnum. I did a lot of Revolver shooting over the years and while I still have several revolvers I rarely shoot them.

What sort of Ammo are you going to carry while backpacking?...my choice is the 10mm 200gr WFNGC Hardcast offering from Double-Tap.

The bullets feed perfectly and they look like this next to my Glock 29

For me the Glock 29 (and the G20, G30, G21) fit my hands perfectly. The 15 round magazine gives you plenty of options while backpacking

May the Bridges I burn light the way.

Congrates on your Glock. I have a friend whom picked up one last month. Looking forward to comparing it to my delta. I foresee this in you future.

Very nice, it's the only Glock I'm even considering as it is one of the few options available in 10MM.

Does the grip feel as massive as I've heard it is?

Throw in some adreniline and a pucker factor of 10.5 and I am sure you would rip through a magazine and never realize the noise or recoil.

Excellent woods gun! I have the 20 for this same purpose.

Nice choice, that is what I would choose also! But for now it's my .357 snubby or like you have the Glock 26.

Is there a loner barrel glock that shoots 10mm?

                          Thanks

The grip is certainly more massive than my 9mm Glock 26. I don't think it will be a huge issue for me.

Glock 20 is the full size 10mm.
