    New Smith & Wesson M&P 22

This is one badass gun I need to add to my collection..

    M&P .22LR

Threaded Barrel The M&P22 is sure to be a popular addition to the M&P line of semi-auto pistols. Designed as a dedicated .22LR, the M&P22 pistol combi

        WHAT?!

When did this come out?! Holy crap now I have to get one in addition to my Kadet kit.

Edit: I just looked at S&W's website. I can't find this gun in the rimfire products section, or the M&P handguns section. Is this a fake?

I thought you sold your M&P already? I am 100 percents sure it will not be on the DOJ roster.

It is not coming out for another few months. I am pretty sure they will introduce it at the SHOT show next year.

I did sell my M&P, but if I could get one in a rimfire then I would. Only reason I sold mine was because I couldn't shoot it worth a damn. I took out my P-01 and I'm already shooting way better than I ever did with my M&P. I still like the M&P, I know it's an awesome gun, but it just wasn't for me, and I didn't want to keep it for the sake of being loyal to any particular brand.

Also, I know it's probably not gonna make it onto the roster, which sucks. You're LEO right? and you're in OC. I think you should buy two and PPT one to me

According to discussion on the M&P forum, it's not due out until at least April 2011.

I'm kinda bummed it has the thumb safety on it, but oh well. I doubt there is much recourse for a .22LR platform. It'll be interesting to get these single-shot exempted if they are not put on the stupid DOJ roster. The only other downside is that rumor has it that it is not a S&W design per se, but rather a licensed product made by Walther for S&W, which could be unfortunate. If it's built like the Walther P22 is, then quality might suffer.

We'll see when the product is actually out in the wild!

I would think we'd see a .22lr upper offered before they'd submit a whole new gun to be approved...much like the Sig .22lr conversion kit

I'd go for one of these in a heartbeat. S&W does have a little history in making multiple variants including ones with both LCIs and mag disconnects. If that's the case, all they'd have to do is submit it for drop testing.

We'll just have to wait and see whether it has the reliablilty of a real M&P, or the reliability of a Wather....

There's a big difference between the Umarex and Walther's. My P99's are extremely reliable.
