No more Glock night sights for Kali?

I was talking with a local gun shop owner (one who actually knows what he's talking about, generally speaking, so I don't think that he was spreading FUD) that Glock handguns were no longer being sold in this state with factory night sights or with frames in colors other than black. (The latter supposedly had something to do with laws against making real firearms look like toy guns.)

Anybody heard anything else about this?

    Thanks!

when i bought my G19 Gen4 in August this year, the glock rep installed night sights per my request (and payment) within 30 seconds. They literally hammer the factory sights off with a rubber mallet.

as for the colors, don't know don't care either.

OD has been discontinued. I assume it was because sales did not meet expectations.

Glock still has night sights it is just that they are no longer allowing guns to be ordered with them. It is likely a means to streamline production and/or inventory.

I believe this is correct. Last time I ordered a Glock with night sights, my distributor said they have been discontinued and that once stock is gone its gone. He said that Glock is still going to be making them with night sights for Law Enforcement sales, but not for civilian sales.

If this cheapens their production which is passed on to us, no worries. Glock's sights are super easy to install.

                Yep,

Not a CA thing but a countrywide deal. I've heard rumors that their deal with the night sight supplier fell through but no way to know.

I agree. I never bought a Glock with anything other than the plastic sights. Dawson and Warren Tactical are I use.

Most (all?) Glock models (even the 17) are not allowed to be imported with night sights, except for LEO/.gov use. Civilian ones are/were imported with regular adjustable plastic sights and retrofitted with night sights in Smyrna.

As an aside - Ive got a set of Trijicons to install on my G26. Any good links or walkthroughs on the web to do it myself, or should I pay the $80+ local smiths want to do it?

The front sight is easy enough, but you will need a sight pusher to do the rear correctly. Try going out to the range at Morro Bay on a match day, most likely one of the USPSA or IDPA guys will have a pusher and do it for free.

$80 to install Glock night sights? That's a bit steep. They are the easiest of sights to install. I think the most my guy would charge is $25 if he charged at all, especially if you buy the sights or gun from them.

I just ordered a G19 and had the option of night sights but I ordered via the Glock LE program. I opted not to get them because I was told that more often than not, the sights come jacked up and it's better to have it done yourself. I guess the previous post about sights being mass swapped out in Smyrna might be right which would explain QC issues.

$80 is very steep for a night sights install. Got mine done for $15. You may want to check around for someone who will do it cheaper or DIY.

Everything related to guns costs more in SLO. Its like beer at the ballpark!
