So up until recently joining this forum which i should have done long ago i used it for info for a long time, but that is beside the point. i did not know of any way of getting off roster handguns. so if i have read some older posts correctly you can pin a gun to be single shot and then it is legal to purchase in CA. given that it is a 10 shot or less. magazine is inside the grip etc. etc etc. how is this legal is there a loop hole or something to that extent. thank you for your responses, also does anyone have info on Valkyrie arms in Milpitas.

Please look up "single-shot exemption" and you'll find exhaustive coverage of the exemption. It's a bit more comprehensive than a simple magazine lock, but that's part of it.

Yes, the roster does not apply to PPTs.

The requirements for the exemption are:
Single Shot
Barrel length over 6 inches.
Overall length over 10.5

I believe they measure the OAL parallel to the bore.

(b) The provisions of this chapter shall not apply to a single-shot pistol with a barrel length of not less than six inches and that has an overall length of at least 10 1/2 inches when the handle, frame or receiver, and barrel are assembled.
