    FN Five-seveN

Does anyone know what is going on with the legislation on the Five-seveN? I have been thinking of getting one but do not have the cash at this point. I am wondering about the time frame that this legislation would be going through?

    Thanks

As long as FN keeps putting the pistol on the list then it will be legal to buy a new one. I can see them try to ban the ammo but no reason to ban the gun.

If you are talking CA law, see 6172crew's answer.
If you are talking federal AW law with the Dems' coming to office...I'm sure it will be on someone's list somewhere. I know that its been talked about several times in the media. Other than that, I have no other info. Sorry.
I'm sure there are others here who keep better legal tabs on this issue than me. That's one of the biggest reasons I'ma members here !

There is currently a bill at the federal level which will ban the FN 5-7, based on the abilities of the SS190 AP ammunition which is not available to civilians; however, the bill has much farther repercussions as to the definition of AP ammo and the restrictions which could follow.

IMHO, the bills will not pass and your Five-seveN is safe. I bought one for the cool factor, plus it's kind of an odd piece.

Get one if you want one, but don't buy into the hysterics of it's impending ban.. They've been villifying it for years and nothing has happened, it's largely being ignored.

don't fret. there's been a number of attempts in the past to get this banned. can't really ban something that even the atf considers as just another gun w/non-ap ammo (ss192/195/196/197). it's a fun gun to shoot. just get it.
