    AR pistol question

I have a freind that has an stripped lower that might be listed on A,B, or C. Can I buy it from him to build an AR pistol (not an assault rifle)? Would it be legal?

On a seperate note. I know vertical foregrips on pistols are illegal but are horizontal foregrips illegal?

it might be legal, but it isn't recommended. Use a fully off-list lower for a pistol build, but you still need to deal with the roster and the fact that it was probably DROSed as a long gun, so it is best to just DROS a complete single-shot pistol.

ATF considers a handgun with a VFG to be a concealable firearm designed to be fired with two hands, so it is an AOW. I'd gather that they'd look at a HFG in a similar way. Just spend the $200 and get your AOW tax stamp and then you can use a VFG or HFG without issue.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Am I reading the Hand Gun Flowchart right?

Is it legal to have a vertical foregrip if I install an bullet button on an AR pistol build?

statewise, yes, it would be legal.

federally, no, it would not be legal, without doing extra paperwok. ATF considers that to be an AOW, which requires you to have a tax stamp to build or buy. But, if you get the tax stamp, yes, you can have a VFG on your mag-locked AR pistol.
