Well I want a 29-2 or 29-3 so buying out of state is not an option.

I'd say ~$750. That's what I'd ask if I were selling mine.

There is probably $100 difference in value between the 29-2 and 29-3. The 29-2 was still pinned and recessed (P&R) and because of this is more desireable. Also, the 4 inch seems to be more in demand so add another $75. All in all...Chickenfried is about right on his price if he were to be so foolish as to sell his.... All I can suggest is IF you find one, and it's nice enough to pass your personal inspection and in your budget at the time....DON'T HESITATE! It will be gone if you go back for it. S&W's just keep going up and especially the older Blued models. HTH c good

The 6.5" versions command $1K in GB and GA.

I settled for the current ver. Shoots nice and is built for a steady diet of 1500+ fps 240 grainers



The wood grips are nice to look at but downright brutal when used with full power loads.

29-2's have been consistantly bringing $750 and up on the used market. Keep in mind that at such a price they only last a matter of a few days if not a few minutes.

I am looking at a 29-3 and not sure what I should pay. I know that I can change the barrel to the size I want but not sure what to pay? What is a fair price to pay?

for a 29-3 I would go for $550-$600

Trying to get the barrel replaced will cost more than its worth plus all the aggrevation trying to find someone competent to do the work plus the wait, ahh. I would just look for the gun in the barrel length I wanted.

That could take forever and I'm in central CA where things are a bit high on price. But I will continue to look around.
