    Kahr CW9 Update

Continued from my last thread. I did what Kahrtalk recommended as far as prep work. Went today to the range glad to report no issues as far as slingshotting the slide, or using slide release. I only had 1 FTF when I hand ejected the round you can see the primer had the dent in it. I loaded it back up and fired it. 50 rounds of American eagle ammo. The rest was 100 round of good ol Winchester white box.

I'm afraid I have other demons. I come to ask here in Calguns because I don't want to go to Kahr talk and get bias opinions. Please help as I'm lost, confused, and *i$$ed off. The accuracy was good I'll post a pic of 2 7 round magazines shot at 7 yards. But I noticed that as the barrel and the slide got hotter the accuracy changed, alot. I let the gun cooled down and came back to it later. Same thing. Now it might be me, maybe I got tired I don't know I started looking at the gun and noticed other things. The guide rod looked chewed up and scratched like a beaver chewed on it. I had noticed this when I disassembled it for the first time. After shooting it I noticed it was worse. Then the slide to frame fit if you can call it is awful. It is unbelievably loose. It wasn't like that before. It is so loose u can see between the frame and the slide. When I would shoot I would have my front sight straight but the back ones would look crooked. Then I would straighten out the back ones with my grip and the front one would be off. I locked the slide to the rear inspected and inspected and noticed the slide and barrel were crooked in relation to the frame.

Can you guys tell me if this is normal. Am I being anal over nothing? I feel stupid right now with this gun. I feel like I want my money back although I know that's not happening but I regret buying this gun.

      More pics

Gap between frame and slide. Put blue tape behind the gun on one of the pics so you can see. The other you can see the head of the target at 7yds on the other side.

The gap is normal, the looseness, probably not. Remind me, was this a new gun?

Awww Man...the barrel should not be crooked when racked back...I'll check my CW9, but I'm pretty sure. Gap and chewed guide rod are fine. Never had a problem with mine thru 1000rds or so. G-luck!

Yea a new gun. You can rock the slide on the rails enough to where you can easily fit an average paper staple straightened out through the back. Sorry I don't have gauges. This is 2nd polymer gun. My first the G19. I don't recall it having this things. But again I didn't know what to look for.

They will fix it an pay for shipping both ways, but you have to be persistent. Maybe get a couple of pics of the looseness thing to send to them.

                They have made some lemons.

their number is 508-795-3919 and the online RMA form is

Even if you file the RMA form, it will take a phone call to get a shipping label and to explain your concerns completely.

Oh yeah........I would ask over at the Kahr forum at Glocktalk. They are helpful (but you have to wade through the posts where a dozen guys chime in about how theirs doesn't have a problem).

I never noticed these things before, so I took out my CW9, unloaded it and inspected it.

                  1. The wear you are seeing on the barrel and guide rod are normal...it gets to a certain point and stops

                  2. The gap between the slide and frame, where you can see between them, is also normal...you should see the same gap in your Glock (I can in my G19)...it has to do with the fact that unlike metal framed guns with full length rails, while the front of the CW9's slide rides on rails built into the duct cover (that is why you have the groves on each side of the guide rod hole)

                  3. Every polymer framed pistol I have inspected has a loose fitting slide...again a product of the none full length rails...you can even feel the slide lift when you pull the trigger.

                  4. I did take a close look at the barrel because I've never noticed it being off-center before. After examining it closely, I can see that it is part of the barrel design. The off-set feed ramp (which allows the lower bore line/slide) puts pressure on the barrel when it is out of battery and cants it to the left

Pretty much what I noticed on mine that I am looking at right now. I will put up some pics in a minute. The black finish on the guide rod will wear off due to being in contact with the spring. No way around that and it is normal. The frame gap on mine is about the same as yours and you can see light and the recoil spring if you hold it at the right angle. The gap is normal and is about the same as my Glock 36. The slide does wiggle a little bit on the rails, but again no more than my glock or XD so I would say that is normal as well. My barrel does cant slightly to the left when locked back also. I think like 9mm said this is due to the off center feed ramp and also normal. I think as long as the gun shoots well (and we told you it would loosen up after being broken in) you should not worry. Just my 2cents.

Guide rod wear after about 1500 flawless rounds

                      Frame gap

Barrel (doesn't look like much but could be the angle?)

Awesome man. Thanks for all of your guys input especially for taking the time to put up the pics jeremedic, exactly what mine looks like. Glad I was spazzing out over nothing. All that is left is to clean it up and drive on forward. Again seriously thanks, I can sleep better now. It is yucky feeling thinking you wasted hundreds of bucks on a gun.

No problemo fonzy! Just keep her clean and lubed and you should be fine. Mine is listed on my ccw permit and I often carry it, meaning I would trust my life to it if that's any additional comfort to you.

Yup that was motivation to buy it also. I like that it's thin and light for carry. I ate up hollow points no problem.
