Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith in or near the solano county area? Im looking to have a few things done to my 1911. Does not necessarily need to be a shop as Ive seen some nice work come from an old timer in the back of his garage. I just want the work done right and backed up without taking months to finish.

Have you thought about sending it to the Springfield Custom Shop? They have really good turnaround times. Otherwise, there is no such thing as "won't take months to finish"with 1911 work.

I want new sights, a beavertail that fits my grip a little better, extended slide release and the trigger feels OK but if it can be improved i would be interested. The pistol is a few years old but new to me so i dont know the history and would like some trained eyes to go over it and make sure everything is in good order. The 1911 is a Para 14 BTW

What part of Nor Cal? Since your not doing a full out custom, I would recommend Dave Severns (check out his website), He is priemier pistolsmith, he does full custom to minor custom. He is located near Lake Tahoe in the Nevada side in Douglas County. You can drop off or send it to him. Check him out!

I had him work over my 1911 commander. Sights, Beaver tail ect. Want to say he cleaned up the trigger while he was in there.

Not always the fastest, as he does work for a couple different places.

He is usually in the afternoons.
