So my buddy wants to sell me his glock 21 for a real good price. Im not a glock fan at all but the price is to good to pass up....but the question I have is...I heard that glocks have trouble shooting reloads. Is that true? 45 ammo can be pricey so I want to start to reload but iim not going to keep this gun if I cant shoot reloads through it. Any help would be helpful thanks.

Glock 21 Question

so as long I shoot fmj's or JHP's ill be ok?Comment

Yes. You will be fine with fmj and jhp. The rifling on the factory GLOCK barrel are supposed to have a faster and heavier lead build up when shoot non jacketed bullets. You can always buy an aftermarket barrel for that pistol if you want to shoot lead.Proposition 65 WARNING
This firearm contains LEAD, a substance known to cause Great Bodily Injury or Death.Comment

Before I retired my first G21, I ran over 100,000 moly lead bullets thru it. You just have to pay a little more attention. All manufacturers will warn against reloads as they have no standards to go by.Comment

No Problem at all shooting reloads in a GLOCK 21
(As per HighLander51's post....not a problem for Moly coated lead)So my buddy wants to sell me his glock 21 for a real good price.
Just buy lead bullets in bulk that have a moly coating on them. The one's I have (in 1000 round boxes) are black coated. 200 Grain Semi-Wad-Cutter)
See photo.
They feed in either of my 2 Glock 21s. (slightly polished the edge of the ramp)
These bullets cost about $80 (plus of minus) per 1000 count. If you want to spend a little more just get the 'Plated' bullets which average $100 or a little more per 1000. The advantage of plated is they are copper coated (or copper colored) clean and look factory.
Copper jacketed bullets are slightly higher, depending on the brand.
Mine in the photo are from Quality Bullets, Mariposa California...I have a few boxes (a lot of my stuff was in my storage locker and I am just now digging around; getting my Dillon press dusted off and running; finding stuff I forgot about...hahaha..) a google check doesn't find Quality Bullets; but there are plenty of other sources. I avoid buying bullets (If I can) from places like TURNERS or Bass Pro...simply because the pricing is super retail. And most of the time they only sell in 100 packs. My advice is to find a bullet shape and brand you are going to run with and buy online in BULK; one shipping fee and once source. Save a bunch of $.
Find a Kitchen Table FFL in your area who you can order thru to save some bucks.

I found this box in my storage area a couple of days ago. It was addressed to ON TARGET shooting range (I used to know the first owner, Chris and his dad back in 1993ish)....I had Chris (FFL) order this; apparently I just shoved it in storage.....4000 new primed .45 cases. 2000 cases per bag. arrg...
So I guess it's .45 for a while...
(wish it was 10MM)

Also dug out my Dillon 1050. Couldn't find everything I need to get it running...this will be my weekend project. I did find some .40/10MM Carbide Dies..and that's my plan to start loading 10MM. Hot 10MM.
Good Times with the GLOCK 21....you will enjoy that machine. One of my favorite .45 platforms that I will never sell. Keep us up-to-date- on your reloading adventures....I suspect 1000s of people will be reloading for the first time after Feb 2011 and the new Ammunition law.
I just wonder when those A.S.S.H.O.L.E.S. in Sacramento will come after gunpowder, primers and other supplies to make bullets.
May the Bridges I burn light the way.

If you continue to have doubts on the Glock 21, then you can always save up for a 1911.sigpicComment

I think maybe what you heard was its hard to reload for a glock. I guess especially on a glock chambered in .40 you can get a bulge in the brass since the brass isn't fully supported in the chamber. There's a special die for this BTW, I've seen it I think RCBS and/or Redding make this die I'm not 100% though since I don't own or reload for .40 cal.Comment
