    Glock 17 to 17c conversion?

Hey guys! Long time troll, first time making a real post.

Im looking to put some cash into my g17/gen3 to help the old lady handle the "recoil". Ive been trying to find out what it takes to do a compensation conversion, but im turning up nothing. Can anyone point me in the direction of a "kit" or is it as simple as a new barrel and slide? TIA guys!

You'll need the slide and a new barrel or just go the cheaper and easier route and get a EFK Firedragon barrel conversion kit instead. I believe you can get a whole upper from LWD that has a ported barrel similar to the stock Glock configuration. Other bet would be to get a .22LR kit, or just buy a G17C I love my 17C and the only reason for me to sell would be to move to the 19C.

I might be off a little, but it should not be hard to google it

I suggest a thread in Private Firearms Sales "WTT G17 for G17c"

Thanks for the heads up guys. Ive decided to hold on to my gun and not off it in search for a 17c. Sentimental reasons i guess. Ill look into the firedragon kit, but id like to keep it OEM if i can. Thanks again!

What recoil..?...Actually I doubt a 17C would reduce felt recoil enough to notice. What you will notice is plenty of particles flying into your face from the holes in the barrel....not fun. And the reason these C models are failures.

Ya, that was my backup plan. Ive never shot a 17c before but in theory it should help, especially coupled with a better spring setup. If im completely off, someone please correct me.

Not sure where you're located, but there's a gun shop in Orange County called "The Stockade" that had a bunch of the "C" models in their inventory (Last time I was in there I saw 17c, 19c, 23c, 21c)...in case you were interested in checking them out.

As Bob said, there is very little value in running a ported 9mm. Now a ported 10mm, yes. To get your wife back on track, start with a .22LR. Recoil is minimal along with noise, then she can concentrate on the shooting fundamentals of stance, grip, sight picture and trigger control.

You could send the gun to a competent gunsmith and have him mill the barrel and slide for ports - but that would get expensive.

Check out Glockworx... they're located here in Ventura, CA.
They will port your barrel and slide or whatever else you want done to your glock.

                        I have shot both 17 and 17C and I couldn't tell the different. It helps with 40sw not with 9mm. Get her a 22lr revolver. (s&w 317)

+1 to that. My gf shoots that when we go to the rental range.
