"Match" grade?!?

So, is there a definitive standard that a part must be in order for it to be called "match grade"? Or can anyone say they make "match grade" parts(barrels, hammers, etc).

Anyone can like the XDm for example, true National Match stuff needs to be hand fitted by a qualified person anyhow.

I've never seen an objective, quantifiable standard for the term. When you see it used, take it with a grain of salt, and consider the source.

Some you can trust and some you can't with or without the markings. Don't believe anyone without results!

so i guess i can only trust the big name "match" parts huh? i was hoping the term\quality would be regulated, but if any smith\company can pump out "match grade" parts at any level, that seems too dicey.

I'll sell you my "match grade" MAC, AK, Raven, RG revolver,High Point, etc. for a "small premium" over a non-"match grade" one.

I'll put it this way. If it's drop in, it isn't match grade. Like the first poster said, match grade means hand fitted by a good smith. Anything else is just marketing.
