I have owned mine for about a year now and i like it, very reliable and they arent really that hard to strip down if you follow the directions in the manual. I would suggest buying a mag loader for it because those mags will give you sore thumbs real quick.

      I've also got one.

Likes: Accurate, cheap to feed, adjustable sights.

Dislikes: Requires a degree in engineering to field strip and clean.

Is the stripping down similar to the Mark II?

I love shooting my Mark II but it is a pain to break down.

+1 on that. I own a Mark II almost the same thing and I know someone with a Mark III. Once you know the proper procedure, breakdown and reassembly is not much harder than any other gun. Seriously, if I had to time myself reassembling the MarkII/III I bet it would only take me slightly longer to get back together than my Glock. And the mag loader from HKS or other vendors will save your thumb.

The only thing that nags me about my Mark III is the magazine disconnect, as that requires you to insert the magazine a couple times during stripdown & assembly so you can drop the hammer to get the bolt in and out.

You can retrofit a Mark II hammer and hammer bushing to remove the magazine disconnect.

I really like the thing, just put another 300 rounds through it this morning.

I am looking to pickup a 22 pistol.
Can't decide between Ruger 22/45 or Browning Buckmark.
Is the Ruger worth the extra money?

if your looking to customize, lots of third party parts - Ruger

keeping it as is - Browning

I also have a 22/45 mkiii and I love it! The best thing you could ever do is to buy a new sear from volquartsen. The sear will run about $20 and cut your trigger pull in half, also if you find the grip frame to skinny you can grind in and put 1911 grips on it. Here is a picture of mine:

My Ruger MkII is a great shooter, particularly for the $$$. I put a volquartsen sear and trigger in mine, and the trigger is far better than my high standard target pistol now!

Reassembly is much easier if you read and follow these instructions.

I've had my Mark III 22/45 for about a year and love it. I also changed the sear out for the volquartsen and it was a 100% improvement. You can't go wrong with one of these.
