    Kimber Problem...1911 guys help please!

After around 500 rounds of perfection my Kimber developed a problem. I am pretty sure it is the mags but I would like to know if anyone else has had this issue. When loading a fresh mag. If I use the slide release or sling shot the slide as hard as possible, the slide sometimes gets totally locked up after traveling maybe a quarter inch forward. I have to literally ram it forward into battery. I doesn't want to budge forward or backward without a lotof force. Only happens on the first round. The round is not sticking on the ramp. It happened with two different kinds of ammo. Mags are Kimber Tactical. I cant find any bad wear marks on them anywhere. I am glad I didn't go through with a trade last week. The guy would have thought I was trying to screw him.

    Any thoughts?

    5" barrel / slide?
If so, it is possible the lower edge of the breech face is catching on the disconnector.
Check the "head" of the disconnector where it sticks up out of the frame...make sure it is smooth / polished on the back face so the slide can smoothly push it down out of the way as the slide goes forward.
Make sure the disconnector moves up and down smoothly and consistently...it could have some built up fouling or maybe brass / metal chips in the hole.

^ He's on the right track. Also check the pushrod on the SII safety. If you can get the slide off, check to see how much the pushrod sticks out above the frame. You may have to refit / file the grip safety to get proper engagement of the Swartz safety pushrod.

Make sure that the slide stop is pushed in to the right side all the way. I just saw a video of a guy that thought his 1911 had problems because while exercising proper handling technique and putting his index finger on the frame, he would inadvertently push the slide stop from the right side of the frame just enough when racking the slide that the gun appeared jammed.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

Is there grease on the slide rails?

Before you do anything beyond what was suggested above, try calling or emailing Kimber and describe the problem, with pics if possible. Troubleshooting a relatively new, expensive pistol is not something I would do myself. Will the place you bought it help you out?

                    Regards and good luck.

The pistol was cleaned and lubed after previous session. It is well lubricated.

I would hope the place I bought it would help me out...I have purchased 3 from them in the past couple years. I really don't want to send this pistol to NY. I will prob send it to a good smith for a reliability package instead. I know how far I can go without getting myself in trouble. I don't wish to be a fly by night gunsmith but I do like to figure out basic trouble shooting on all my weapons. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I will try calling Kimber. However I hear there is no troubleshooting done over the phone. Send it in only.
