Mix and match Glock slides and frames ?

can I mix and match Glock slides and frames ?
    I have 26, 19, 17 and 24.

say I like the grip of a 19, but prefer the longer slide of a 17/24. or could be different combination.

is that doable ? is that a dumb question ?

You can put the 19 slide on a 26 and the 24 slide on a 17, but....

The 24 is a 40S&W and the 17 ejector will have a problem with the 40 brass.

Also, there will be overhang of the dust covers exposing the slide springs.

    But, it will work.

Frame length is the key. Full-sizes are interchangeable with full-sizes, compacts with compacts, etc. In fact, the frame is the exact same between the 17, 17L, 22, 24, 31, 34, and 35. The larger calibers use a wider frame so the 20, and 21 wont work with the smaller calibers. You can have a 17 frame cut down to the grip length of a 19 (or a 26) and have the slide length of a 17L if you want!

Just did a quick image search. This is about as crazy a modification as I've seen (bottom)...
