    1911 single stack magwells?

    Hello all,

Does anyone know who makes a single stack mag well that is of this style?

I have no problems with Smith & Alexander style magwells, but I like the look and function of these mag wells better (all the way around). I'm looking for one that does not need to be welded or brazed onto the frame, and so far the only one I've found is this one from Infinity Firearms for $136:

    Any ideas?

I have the infinity one, and it is VERY nice. Another option, a new one to the market, in one produced by Techwear USA (the maker of a lot of the custom shooting shirts). It's called the Techwell, and mounts to the grips (specially machined Alumagrips)

I just found out about the Techwell system and while it does look interesting, I question the stability of it... Anyone have the Techwell installed already? How does it work?

Overkill, do you have another source to purchase the Infinity mag well? Or did you purchase from Infinity? Thanks.

I purchased my magwell from infinity. I bought the "cheap" silver aluminum version.

As I understand, the Techwell is actually quite stable. There are some reviews/opinions over on the Brian Enos forum.

I saw it at the Ironman, it uses the grip panels to hold the magwell, looked really solid.
          where are my pistol mags?

Does anyone makes one that incorporates with grips and main spring housing?

I bet that it will be strong.

Maybe made out of aluminium. Just thinking outloud.
'Cuz big holes are easier to see.

I welcome it. How else would I learn.

I have used this one before from Wilson Combat:

It attaches to the lower grip bushings on both sides and once installed, it is rock solid. The problem with this setup, is that it will require relieved grip panels in order to be installed, though both Wilson Combat and Alumagrip have grips that will fit this magwell now. Also you will need to fit (widen and deepen) the opening to your frame, otherwise it is too narrow and shallow to do any good.

Try the extensive listing at brownells (sp? always wrong!!!)
There are several out there. I have one that replaces the rear mainspring housing. The mag well is removeable from the mainspring housing so you can take it off for CCW or put it back on at the range. I personally just leave mine on. I bought it through Brownells.

Mine is a very solid unit and I like it alot

Do you feel it extends too long below the frame?

Actually it helps to get a solid purchase on my weak hand pinky. Let me know when you'll be by and I'll bring my comp gun in.

Thanks Franksremote... Fremont is a bit of ways from home but if and when I get a chance to visit my friend in Larkspur, I will definitely contact you and come by.
